I just started

I've had the yarn for over a week but was still hesitant to dive in. Well I finally did last Saturday. I've decided to knit the body in one piece (I hate seaming!). I'll do the sleeves in the round but will have to figure out how to modify the pattern when it comes to joining the sleeves.

Here's what I have so far -

Hey there : )

You shouldn't have to modify the pattern to join the sleeves at all.. (I assume you mean when you're attaching the sleeves to the body.) When the sweater is put together from flat pieces.. you seam the sleeves and the body and then put the sleeves on.. so it shouldn't be any different with the pieces worked in the round.

I hope this is helpful.. if I'm totally missing the point I'm sorry! What you have so far looks great : )

I too am trying to avoid sewing all the pieces together. I've knit the fronts and back all together as one piece up to the sleeve openings. My plan is to knit the sleeves in the round as well, join them, and do the raglan decreases all together to avoid having to sew in the sleeves separately. If you check the archives for February, someone's already done this successfully.

I'm not so sure I'll be able to do it properly (getting the ribs to line up seems like it might take some thinking), but it seems worth the try.

I will attempt to knit the sleeves in the round and join it like the Hourglass sweater. I may have to tinker with the pattern.
