fin

I'm finally done!

I wrestled with the stupid zipper, but I think it ended up ok.

The only thing I'm unhappy with is the length. I added an inch, blocked the bejesus out of it, and it's still way too short for my tastes. Cute, though...

Maybe someday I'll make another SUPER long one.

Anyway, let me know what you think!

a knitter's nightmare

when you've finished your Ribby Cardi, and you love it so much and wear it everywhere... DON'T wear it out for a night of drinking on the town for a friend's birthday. DON'T take it off when you get warm in the bar. and DON'T accidentally leave it behind when you leave for the night.

Finished (so long ago)

I finished my ribby (my first sweater!) way back in ...um, June 2005. I just never got around to posting the finished product.

I used 5 skeins of Cascade 220 for the 36/37 size. I lengthened the body and sleeves a bit, but I don't know how much. I ordered my zipper from zipperstop.com after not being able to find anything remotely suitable locally. The zipper installation was a bit of a pain, but let's not get into that!

Greetings from a New Place : )

Hello there,

My husband and I just moved into our first apartment! (Say it with me, "Awww.")

But really that's not what I'm here for.. lol. The point is that I'm a little behind on things (And moving is the reason) and I'd like a favor from you guys..

Please look at the members list down the side of the blog and make sure that your name is there how you want it, and that it links to wherever you want it to link to (Your blog, or site, or nothing if you have neither of those things)

If your name is wrong or is missing please leave a note in the comments on this entry and I'll fix it for you : )

Thanks in advance!

Introduction & a Hello!

I've been working on my Ribby Cardi for a bit and love the pattern so far, especially after I got past the stockinette sections! I'm using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Asparagus and Chocolate.

Buttonband part 2

This is what my band looks like, I am not sure if this is supposed to happen or why...
See the slanted stitches? Those are the skipped ones, is this normal?
Is there something that can be done about this? Or is this the way I knit? It isn't like all my stitches are even or anything, but this stands out.

I have never done this before, so I am clueless (If that wasn't already obvious). Maybe I picked up the stitches wrong....?

Thanks for the feedback on my previous questions, by the way, it helps.

Picking up the stitches...

I have a question or two, I will try to be as clear as possible:
Here is where I am:
I am at the place where you pick up stitches for the zipper area. The amount of stitches the pattern says to pick up is about 30 less than what makes up the length of the sweater. So, to compensate for this, I skipped a stitch every third stitch or so, thus picking up the number of stitches that the pattern specified.

It is obvious which stitches I skipped, doesn't look too hot. So, I guess my question is, does it matter how many stitches you pick up? Shouldn't it be even? How do you determine which stitches get picked up?

And, lastly, when you go to bind off knit-wise, are you doing this while facing the wrong side?

I hope someone can help me with this, it's late and I hope I am making sense.
G' night.
Melissa
