Introduction & a Hello!

I've been working on my Ribby Cardi for a bit and love the pattern so far, especially after I got past the stockinette sections! I'm using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Asparagus and Chocolate.

Buttonband part 2

This is what my band looks like, I am not sure if this is supposed to happen or why...
See the slanted stitches? Those are the skipped ones, is this normal?
Is there something that can be done about this? Or is this the way I knit? It isn't like all my stitches are even or anything, but this stands out.

I have never done this before, so I am clueless (If that wasn't already obvious). Maybe I picked up the stitches wrong....?

Thanks for the feedback on my previous questions, by the way, it helps.

Picking up the stitches...

I have a question or two, I will try to be as clear as possible:
Here is where I am:
I am at the place where you pick up stitches for the zipper area. The amount of stitches the pattern says to pick up is about 30 less than what makes up the length of the sweater. So, to compensate for this, I skipped a stitch every third stitch or so, thus picking up the number of stitches that the pattern specified.

It is obvious which stitches I skipped, doesn't look too hot. So, I guess my question is, does it matter how many stitches you pick up? Shouldn't it be even? How do you determine which stitches get picked up?

And, lastly, when you go to bind off knit-wise, are you doing this while facing the wrong side?

I hope someone can help me with this, it's late and I hope I am making sense.
G' night.

Finally, a picture!

I posted a little while back with a question about zippers...I've since pieced the whole thing together (after overblocking it: d'oh!). I lengthened the sleeves and the body, but the body is still a little short for my tastes. I love it, though! Very warm, and the color turned out nicely.

I still haven't ordered a zipper...but I plan on doing so soon. Can't wait to wear this bad boy!

Intro and progress

Thought I'd hop in and introduce myself and post my progress. I actually started the cardi a month ago and was hoping to have it finished by last weekend for hubby's birthday, but that didn't happen. Not enough hours in the day!

I'm currently working on the sleeves simultaneously and am just about to the point of the first increases. Hopefully I can get this finished by the 24th (my birthday) so I can cast on a new project. Next one is for me! I started blocking the back and fronts this evening. I have to find a better way to do this. The hand steamer I have is not the greatest. Maybe I'll pick up a new one for my birthday! You can find me and my misadventures here.

Help me!!!! I've lost my mind!!!!

So, I put my cardi down for awhile and picked it up again a few days ago. I didn't bother to look at the instructions for a refresher cuz I knew what I was doing. Yeah right.

I am knitting all the panels together and I have begun my dec's. Well, my first mistake was I reversed my ssk's and my k2tog's. O.k., no problem, I'll just rip out those 18 rows and start again. When I get about 12 rows back on, I remember, as I am ssking k2ing and k2tog and k2ing, that on the main body I didn't do the last stitches because they were for the seam. So here's where I am confused. As I am doing the decreases and the panels are seperated, do I go ahead and do the last k2's on each one after the dec stitches? Does that make sense?

I wrote all of this out on a print out of the instructions before I started, but alas, I cannot find it now. So I have absolutely no idea. It looks nice the way I have done it and it fits when I slip it on, but I am afraid that when I try to attach the sleeves it won't be right.

Hi and a question...

Hi to everyone that's still around :o)

This cardigan is my Olympic project and I have a question about doing it all in one piece to the sleeve openings. Maybe I'm over thinking, but I read the archives and it's just not clicking. Maybe the ribbing is confusing me? I don't know.

I don't want to post too much of the pattern, so if anyone has any ideas on how to help me understand please email me...blueskyy23(at)comcast(dot)net.

Normally I'd just try it and see what happens but since I only have 16 days I'd like to get it right the first time!
