Casting on

Hello,

A friend suggested to me that I should use the "tubular cast-on" method since the bottom of this sweater is ribbed. Problem is I don't know how to do the tubular cast-on. I've done a search on the web but I haven't found any instructions that I can really understand. I need pictures! Does anyone know where I can find instructions for how to do this? Or, what cast on methods are you all using. I want something that will be elastic with the ribbing along the bottom and the sleeve cuffs.

Hey Stacey, I just did a regular long-tail cast on for my cardi. You can find the Tubular Cast-On in Katherine Buss's Big Book of Knitting, I believe. I used her Tubular 2x2 cast off for a previous project and it worked like a charm.

Here's a link to some photos of a tubular 1x1 cast on: http://www.knittingfairy.com/techniques2.htm

Good luck!

Thanks! I've ordered the Vogue Knitting book but it hasn't come yet and I'm a little anxious to get started. If all else fails I will just do the long tail cast on. *smile*
